Market Wrap

We had a wonderful day at Crystal Brook celebrating our annual school market. The weather was lovely, the music fantastic and the atmosphere festive. The show of support from our community was a great reflection of our school feeling.

Thus, I would like to acknowledge all of the parents who had a huge part in getting this market together. It all begun with a monetary donation from Susie & Joe Delaney. The children's tent was, again, a huge success and Sally Ingram would like to thank all those who contributed their time, energy and of course beautiful craft items, with special mention going to Maryanne, who co-coordinated the kinder families and to Julie who opened her home to the community last year for craft sessions. Michelle Thomas working hard on publicity and promoting the event and our school. Karin Penny & I have been busily sewing for our school craft table, with assistance from Louise, Christina and Kate.

With Karin making another appearance with Michelle in putting the harvest table together, with contributions from class 2, with the support of Mango & Christina. Carol, Sophie, Judy & Karey helping on the table on the big day. Ali Southwell, not only did a great job with the lucky wine dip, but also set up the children’s activities with Stephen Hambly and held Yoga for children in a wonderful tent provided by Michael. Fiona, Leah and Anne providing activities for the children, such as wet on wet paintings, all material generously provided by Mercurius School Supplies. Melinda and her group of mothers doing a wonderful job of selling the flower/maple leaf tickets for all activities. Including our pony rides, a huge effort on the day, much loved by all children, provided again by Tamsenne Grogan, Jasmine, Lucy & Jiyah. Another very popular activity was the face painting, compliments of Sarah Brown, Cat, Greg, Linda, Paula and John. Last but not least are our outdoor children activities, including sack races, silk parachute… cheerfully done by Kathy Lukacs & Kelly.

All of this happened with the constant accompaniment of music, organized by Jenny Parker, which really contributed to the festive atmosphere, creating a wonderful dining area to enjoy. Featuring some wonderful bands and also our own local talent- Morgan, Karey & Stephen with Peter Baiguerra doing the sound mixing. Many thanks to our graduates for performing with Judy, as well as assisting with pony rides all day. With the beautiful foliage decorating our hall, thanks to Connie, John and Wendy with prep parents assisting. Angela did a great effort with the plants, staying on the job all day-perhaps next time-a hat would be good! John and Pam wearing many hats prior and on the day, including our beautiful banner. Anne Redsell maintaining safe and efficient parking for all, a very necessary part of our day.

Peter Isaac did a wonderful job with our kitchen, overcoming many obstacles, organizing a wonderful selection of sweets, contributed by the parents, with organic tea, coffee and juices donated by very supportive sponsorship. A very busy day for him, with the help of Julie, Sarah, Karin, Glenys, Belinda, Connie, Chaco, Akiko, Joey, Rosa & Anne. Also organized was the BBQ, with many sausages and vege burgers (compliments of Louise), manned by Ian, Ray, Stephen, Darryl and others. Surrounding the BBQ were the many and varied stalls organized by Rachel Coupland Evans, which provided a great selection of gifts for all.

Maintaining our Waste Wise event and Wash Against Waste was Kathy Tyler, with the assistance of Kate, Pam, Ali, Louise, Jenny & other wonderful parents. Graham, Rosa and Pam were great in the monetary management of the day.

We begun with Susie, so we shall finish with her; with her success in finding Harkaway Water- who provided free of charge- all of the water we required on the day. Thanks again to all, especially those who helped thru out the year and also did the set up and cleanup, a huge effort, with a great result. If I have missed anyone in my acknowledgements, I apologise and please know that we are grateful for all of your contributions.

Enjoy, Becc Cossart-Walsh (market coordinator)
